History
The Southeastern Food Processors Association is an outgrowth of the Georgia Canners Association which had been in existence for almost 30 years, holding its organizational meeting June 16, 1942. Mr. W. Ennis Parker, Pomona Products Company, Griffin, Georgia, was elected President of the Association at that time and re-elected in 1943.
In January, 1975, the Georgia Canners Association extended its membership to freezers and became the Southeastern Canners and Freezers Association. The Association's boundaries encompassed Georgia and Florida and in 1978 boundaries were extended to include Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, South Carolina, and North Carolina. In 1980, Kentucky was added.
In 1979 the Association's name was changed to Southeastern Food Processors Association, Inc. In 1984, the Association voted to broaden the scope throughout the South Eastern United States.
Food processors enjoy the opportunity to interface with a wide range of associate members who supply the industry. The Southeastern Food Processors Association has a history of stability established by those members who have conscientiously worked to maintain and support it.
